A Lot of Snow Still on Ben Nevis
We’ve had a great run of good weather and the hills are glorious just now, but if you’re planning on climbing Scotland’s highest mountain as part of your challenge then winter is still very much present on the top part of Ben Nevis.
Snow still covers sections of the path some of the summit plateau is under a good two metres of snow. Cornices remain over the edge of cliff faces and some snow pack will be icy. So be cautious; stick to the line of cairns (the tops of which are clear of snow) on the summit and make sure you have the right kit with you (a map and compass, plus ice axe and crampons may be necessary).
